Yesterday, 31 January 2024, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 2 (CHED RO2), through its Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education Unit (UniFAST Unit), held a virtual orientation for the new student-grantees under the Listahanan Batch 11 of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) program for the Academic Year 2022-2023 via the Zoom Platform.
In line with the commitment of keeping new student-grantees knowledgeable on the thrust and guidelines of the TES program, the orientation served as a venue for the presentation and discussion of TES’ brief background and its prioritization scheme, the financial benefits it provides, the documentary requirements, the grounds for termination, the roles and responsibilities of beneficiaries, and the process flow being observed in the implementation of the program.
Atty. Marco Cicero F. Domingo, OIC-Director IV, in his message ably delivered by Ms. Leah Sandra M. Perez, Lead Regional Coordinator and Project Technical Staff III of the CHED RO2 – UniFAST Unit, expressed his warmest felicitations to the participants who he regarded as “Iskolars ng Bayan.”
“We are excited to conduct this endeavor because we are meeting the new set of student-grantees who are given the golden opportunity to enjoy financial assistance that will definitely be of great help in the realization of their respective studies,” Atty. Domingo conveyed. “Since its inception, TES has indeed helped financially challenged, but deserving students succeed in their chosen studies and made a significant change to their lives – this strongly manifests that our country’s investment in this program is paying off and its noble intentions are being realized.”
Ms. Analiza I. Tordillos, Project Technical Staff II, and Ms. Rejoice D. Tan, Project Technical Staff II, led the presentation and discussion of the topics. Also, in attendance during the virtual orientation is Engr. Rosario G. Danga, Supervising Education Program Specialist and the region’s UniFAST Focal Person, and the TES Focal Persons of concerned partner Higher Education Institutions (HEIs).
