Cabarroguis, Quirino – The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 2 (CHED RO2), in collaboration with the Office of the Representative of the Lone District of Quirino, awarded Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) grant checks to 89 beneficiaries yesterday, 16 January 2024, at the Quirino Provincial Auditorium.

CHED RO2 SMART Program Focal Person, Mr. Rey S. Tuddao, Education Supervisor II, Hon. Midy N. Cua, Quirino’s Lone District Representative, and Hon. Dakila Carlo E. Cua, Provincial Governor of Quirino, led and graced the awarding.

In his message, Mr. Tuddao conveyed the purpose of the said program and the CHED’s utmost appreciation of the untiring support of Quirino to its various programs. He underscored that the success of Quirino is also celebrated as a victory of the Commission.

Rep. Cua, and Gov. Cua, in their respective inspirational messages, expressed to the students that the grant is an investment for the betterment of their lives and future. They also shared pieces of advice that centered on the wise utilization of the financial assistance.

Funded under the Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF), SMART Grant intends to provide a fixed and one-time assistance amounting to PhP25,000.00 to qualified students who are enrolled in any undergraduate program during the Academic Year 2023-2024.

As part of the National Employment Recovery Strategy, the said program has the thrust of helping qualified students complete their undergraduate studies amidst the effects of the recent global pandemic. (A. Maguigad Jr.)
