Being true to its commitment in exemplifying transparency and guiding its partners in the pursuit of quality and equitable higher education, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 2 (CHED RO2), through its Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST) Unit, held yesterday, 24 August 2023, an updating session for Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) and Tulong Dunong Program – Tertiary Education Subsidy (TDP-TES) Focal Persons, and Finance Officers of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) in the region.

Ably represented by CHED RO2’s Chief Education Program Specialist, Dr. Almacita P. Abrigo, OIC-Director IV, Atty. Marco Cicero F. Domingo, conveyed that this endeavor is a manifestation of the Commission’s mission and responsibility in guaranteeing that its partners are abreast with the relevant policies, processes, and status of the aforesaid programs.

“We, at the Commission on Higher Education, together with our colleagues from the Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education, see to it that this kind of activity is constantly conducted to sustain transparency and cooperation for efficient and effective delivery of services and programs funded under RA 10931 or the “Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act””, Atty. Domingo said. “This is part of the attainment of an open, communicative and responsive community among implementers.”

Particularly presented during the session are the status of the disbursal of TES and TDP-TES’ respective funds for the First and Second Semesters of the Academic Year 2022-2023, salient features of the guidelines on the use of TES and TDP-TES Administrative Support Cost or the UniFAST Memorandum Circular No. 3, s. 2023, amendments to the amended TES Guidelines of 2022 or the UniFAST Memorandum Circular No. 4, s. 2023, and the guidelines for the TES slots for the Fiscal Year 2023 or the UniFAST Memorandum Circular No. 5, s. 2023.

The session ended with an open forum wherein questions and concerns raised were given due clarification. (A. Maguigad Jr.)
