Being true to the thrust of ensuring the successful implementation of the Medical Scholarship and Return Service (MSRS) Program under the Doktor para sa Bayan Act, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 2 conducted a face-to-face orientation for the new batch of MSRS scholars from Cagayan State University – Carig Campus on February 14, 2023 at the CHED Regional Office 2 Auditorium, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan.
CHED Regional Office 2’s Chief Education Program Specialist, Dr. Almacita P. Abrigo, welcomed the participants and conveyed to them the Commission’s warm felicitations for having been qualified and selected as beneficiaries of the MSRS Program. Engr. Rosario G. Danga, Supervising Education Program Specialist, Engr. Joven B. Jacinto, Education Supervisor II, and Ms. Alicia U. Ligsay, CSU – Carig Campus MSRS Coordinator, also graced the activity.
Mr. Rey S. Tuddao, Education Supervisor II and MSRS Regional Focal Person, spearheaded the presentation and discussion of the salient points of the CHED Administrative Order No. 2, s. 2022 otherwise known as the “Operational Guidelines on the Implementation of the Medical Scholarship and Return Service (MSRS) Program”. He stressed that it is vital for the scholars to be abreast with the pertinent policy and be guided about their roles and responsibilities and the procedure being observed in the processing of their grant.
To ensure the provision of health care services in every town in the country, especially in underserved and Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA), the MSRS Program as a national government funded program ultimately intends to support deserving medical students who are willing to render mandatory return service.
