Committed to keep the beneficiaries of the Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) program abreast, the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 2 (CHED RO2), through its Unified Student Financial Assistance System for Tertiary Education (UniFAST Unit), oriented the new TES student-grantees of HG Baquiran College yesterday, January 24, 2024.
Held at the Barangay Lingaling Multi-purpose Gym, Lingaling, Tumauini, Isabela, the orientation capacitated 612 new TES student-grantees on their responsibilities as beneficiaries, and on the salient features of the existing TES guidelines. Ms. Leah Sandra M. Perez, Project Technical Staff III and CHED RO2 – UniFAST Unit’s Lead Regional Coordinator, and Ms. Rejoice D. Tan, Project Technical Staff II, served as resource speakers.
In attendance during the orientation are the officials of the HG Baquiran College led by its President, Dr. Romeo Z. Tarun. HG Baquiran College is one of the private Higher Education Institutions (PHEIs) in the region that is located in a municipality where there is no State Universities or College.
As one of the main programs under the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act (UAQTEA), TES provides qualified undergraduate Filipino students with a grant that supports the cost of their education. Beneficiaries of this program undergo prioritization, and cross-matching and ranking based on the latest Listahanan database. (A. Maguigad Jr.)
