Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – In a bid to continue strengthening the implementation of programs under the Republic Act No. 10931 or the “Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act” (UAQTEA) in the region, the Unified Student Financial Assistance for Tertiary Education Unit (UniFAST Unit) of the Commission on Higher Education Regional Office II (CHEDRO II) held on 13 February 2025 a strategic planning and orientation workshop at the CHEDRO II Auditorium.

Themed “Driving Progress in UniFAST: Planning, Target Setting and Process Enhancement,” the activity served as an avenue for the alignment of the agency’s commitment to the implementation of the UAQTEA programs with the Commission’s Strategic Plan, particularly on the pillar of “Access and Success”; and orientation and workshop on the validation and disbursement processes.

Through her message, Dr. Julieta M. Paras, Director IV, accentuated that the ultimate goal of the various student financial assistance programs is to aid Filipino students be successful in their chosen field and underscored the critical role of planning in attaining it.

Dr. Paras emphasized the importance of moving forward and encouraged the unit to keep on innovating. “We cannot keep doing the same thing, yet expect different result,” said Dr. Paras.

Ms. Leah Sandra M. Perez, PTS III and Lead Regional Coordinator, Ms. Rejoice D. Tan, PTS II, and Mr. Abraham M. Maguigad Jr., PTS II, served as speakers during the activity, tackling the presentation and discussion of the UniFAST Unit’s strategic plan, re-orientation on the validation manual, and orientation and workshop on relevant financial documents and fund disbursement processes, respectively.
