Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office 2 (CHED RO2), through the initiative of Cagayan Second District’s solon, Hon. Baby Aline Vargas-Alfonso, conducted the awarding of the financial assistance under the Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transition (SMART) grant to 104 qualified students today, 22 January 2024, at the FL Vargas College – Tuguegarao City Campus Auditorium.

CHED RO2’s team, headed by Mr. Rey S. Tuddao, Education Supervisor II and the designated SMART Focal Person in the region, the Office of the Representative of the Second District of Cagayan, represented by Mr. Peter L. Anog, and officials of the FL Vargas College, ably led by Dr. Florida R. Capili, Executive Vice President of FL Vargas College, spearheaded the awarding of cheques.

Students benefitting from the said grant received a one-time financial assistance amounting to Twenty-Five Thousand Pesos (PhP25,000.00) and are enrolled in their chosen undergraduate program for the Academic Year 2023-2024.

Aimed to extend a helping hand, the SMART grant contributes in the continuous pursuit of higher learning, and academic and professional development of Filipino students. (A.Maguigad Jr.)
